Cookie and Bees Project Bag Review

What crafter doesn’t love project bags? Even before I began knitting every day, I collected bags. I’m pretty well-known for my collection at home and around my office. When I began knitting more often, I began collecting project bags too because, why not? I’d search Etsy to find new bag designers and would get suggestions from friends who loved certain designers. My collection…is rather large. It’s to the point where I asked for a new bag for Christmas from my husband and he counted the bags he could see (the ones he could seeahem) and declared, “You have 17 project bags. You do not need another one.” Excuse me? I think that is my choice.

         But I digress.

Small drawstring bag
Most recently I’ve been loving drawstring project bags. Don’t get me wrong, I love my zip-top bags, my snap-close bags, and even my Japanese knot bags. But I’ve been gravitating towards purchasing drawstring bags in the past few months. When Brianne from Cookie and Bees posted a set of drawstring bags with a cute print, I quickly grabbed one because, well, cute bags. I had already purchased a Medium Project Bag and a Cake Coozie from her as a gift to my FibreShare partner, and they were well-made and a really cute print.

The bag I most recently purchased is a Small Drawstring Bag. I used it for a shawl baby until it got too big, and I think I’ll use it for the start of single skein shawls from now on. This size will be good for sock knitting as well. I want a Large Drawstring Bag, but apparently, I have more than 17 bags now, so I guess I’ll wait a bit…Her newest bags can be embroidered with your initial too, how cute is that.

I asked Brianne from Cookie and Bees about her crafting and bag making and she was happy to share her thoughts about her bags and fabrics.

What do you think makes your bags stand out from others?
Yes, the interior is sparkle turquoise.
Each of my bags is handmade by me from start to finish.  Most of my bag patterns I have designed myself, I pick out all fabrics (well, my husband does like to help with that part!), and I sew them all.  I believe professionally finished items reflect the pride I take in each bag.
When did you start making bags?
An entire decade ago!

Why did you start making bags?
I began sewing right after my first child was born and at a time clothes may or may not have fit! I immediately began sewing bags because they are one size fits all.  I quickly became close to a popular bag designer in the sewing community and have pattern tested for her since she began selling bag patterns. I also bag pattern test for another, newer, bag designer as well.  After a decade of making bags, it's just become a part of who I am!

Yeah pockets!!!!!
What features do you include that you think are useful for knitters/crocheters?
POCKETS!  always big pockets!  I also have a style for everyone whether that is open top, zipper closure, or drawstring.

What draws you to a fabric when you're shopping?
I am a classic style person in regard to my clothes and I like that in my bags.  However, I love unique fabrics as well and there are specific designers I am drawn to such as Tula Pink, Alexander Henry, Joel Dewberry, and Cloud 9.  For my business though, I appreciate everyone has their own style and preferences, so I try my best to have diverse offerings.  This is when my husband's opinion helps because he gets me out of my predictable box!
